The Entry-Exit System, or EES, requires non-EU travellers to submit fingerprints and facial scans when entering the EU. People who refuse to hand over their biometric data can be denied entry, and that data can be stored for up to three years. The EU says this will make borders smarter and safer. But biometrics are not like passwords. People cannot reset their face if it’s in a data leak or change their fingerprints if the data is misused.
